The Band

Lead Guitar and Vocals

Jim Hurley

Jim began his career in California, headlining on the local scene as both a guitar player and an accomplished bass player.

Looking for a change of scenery and a desire to find something more raw than the polished LA sound, Jim ended up in the Northwest getting to know the circuit and fronting several local bands.

"We just want to play for people - we're here to have a good time, so leave your bullshit at the door and come on in."

Guitar and Vocals

Grant Beck

Grant began playing with On Common Ground shortly after being fished from Puget Sound by Jim one February afternoon.  “I thought he was a grouper, at first,” Jim recalls.  “I was going to throw him back, but he said he played guitar.  We had a hell of a time getting the hook out of him.”

Grant can be found most days playing his Rickenbacker guitar.

Bass Guitar and Vocals

David Bassman

Things I’ve learned in life…

It’s all about the bass…the last great art form on the planet.

From early blues to contemporary pop you can’t have enough music in your life, just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Life seems to have its own plan for us but we’re all on the Road to Hell…some of us will just get there sooner.

Keyboards and Vocals

Mitch Gary

Mitch lays down the keys and plays piano, organ, pads, and sax on his MODX7.  He also brings his ARP Odyssey for special effects - Police Sirens, jet airliners, synth solos, classic synth lines.

Drums & Percussion

Warren Smith

The pride of Kalispell, Warren was often considered the hardest working musician in the county.  His hard work and dedication paid off years later when he was offered a spot in "On Common Ground" as a sax player.  While unable to play sax, he was able to balance on the drum stool, found a pair of sticks, and has been trying to get out ever since.
